Brides, if you’ve spent any amount of time on wedding TikTok or Instagram lately, you’ve probably seen the debate:
“Why are all my vendors filming everything?”
“Can people not be present these days?”
“I hired a photographer, not a social media team.”
And trust us, we get it.
Some vendors absolutely overdo it. Your wedding shouldn’t feel like a social media production, and no couple should be asked to recreate moments over and over just so someone can make a Reel. Your experience should always come first.
One part of the conversation we haven’t seen come up, though, is this: most brides who receive behind-the-scenes photos and videos from their vendors end up loving them.
Let’s start with why vendors take content in the first place: marketing.
For vendors, weddings make up our portfolio. Unlike businesses that can display products on shelves or in a showroom, we only get to showcase what we’ve created through real weddings. Sharing “behind-the-scenes” and finished work content on social media is how many brides discover us and decide whether we’re the right fit.
Social media has also changed dramatically over the last decade. Photos alone aren’t always enough anymore, and platforms tend to favor videos, Reels, Stories, and other forms of content that can sometimes feel excessive.
But for most vendors, capturing a few clips is not about making ourselves and our work the main character. It’s simply part of running a modern business—documenting work we’re incredibly proud of while simultaneously providing an exceptional experience to the clients.
As much as we’d love to share every beautiful wedding we work on, we also want to make one thing crystal clear to all the brides reading: it’s YOUR wedding.
If you don’t want to be filmed, you never have to say yes. If you’re okay with behind-the-scenes footage but don’t want to appear on social media, that’s completely okay too.
A great vendor should always respect your comfort level. Content creation should never come before your experience, and you should never feel pressured to participate in something that doesn’t align with your values or desires.
If you’re the kind of bride who wants to stay fully present and avoid extra cameras, communicate that with your vendors. They’ll appreciate the clarity and understand you deserve a wedding day that feels authentic to you.
For those of you who haven’t really thought much about your opinions regarding vendor content, here are a few reasons we’ve seen it become such an unexpected bonus.
Unless you’ve hired a dedicated wedding content creator, the behind-the-scenes photos and videos your vendors capture often cost you nothing extra.
Many couples are surprised when their florist, planner, beauty team, DJ, or photographer shares candid clips from throughout the day. Suddenly, they have even more memories to relive without adding another vendor to their budget.
While you’re getting ready, your florist is putting the finishing touches on the reception. While you’re taking portraits, your planner is watching guests arrive. While you’re on the dance floor, your beauty team might be capturing your bridesmaids celebrating together.
Every vendor experiences a different perspective of your day. Those little glimpses often become some of the most treasured memories because they’re moments you never got to witness yourself.
Nearly every married couple says the same thing after their wedding: “It went by so fast.”
Between the excitement, the timeline, and spending time with the people you love, the day can easily feel like a blur.
Having extra behind-the-scenes footage helps slow those memories back down. The little laughs between poses, the quiet moments before the ceremony, and the candid interactions throughout the day help tell the full story—not just the highlights.
Like we said from the beginning, there is absolutely a line.
If vendors are interrupting moments, asking couples to recreate memories solely for social media, or making content the priority instead of the client, that’s the line that should never be crossed because it’s creating an experience no one wants or enjoys.
But when it’s done thoughtfully and organically, content doesn’t feel performative. It feels like someone preserving little moments that otherwise could’ve disappeared.
At Anomalie, we love giving our brides those “paparazzi moments” after their final look—not because we’re trying to create the next viral video (but hey, if it happens, it happens!), but because we know that seeing yourself as a true bride for the first time is a feeling you’ll never get back. If we also get to share that joy with our community and inspire future Anomalie brides, that’s simply a bonus.
Whether you love behind-the-scenes content or prefer to keep your day unplugged, our goal is always the same: to create an experience that feels elevated, comfortable, and centered around you.
If there’s one thing we hope you take away from this, it’s that wedding content should never come at the expense of your experience. When it’s captured thoughtfully, though—with your comfort in mind—it becomes more than just social media content. It becomes one more way to remember one of the most meaningful days of your life.
