It can be really frustrating when you go on Pinterest, Instagram, Google, TikTok, etc. in search of the perfect makeup or hair inspo, but see no one that looks like you. Have you ever felt that way? We totally get it!
It makes it twice as hard to truly envision your dream glam when you can’t find photos that match your skin tone, eye color, hair color, and more. We want our brand to be inclusive of the real women we work with every day, and offer a resource of inspiration to help you find the perfect look.
If you’ve been following along with us on our social channels, you may have noticed our recent series titled, “GLAMspo That Looks Like YOU”. We are so excited to offer a blog post that is completely dedicated to each look we have featured so far. If you have deeper & richer skin tones, hair colors & eye colors with warm or neutral undertones…this section is for you!
If you are a woman of color, it’s important to consider various factors such as skin tone, undertone, and personal preferences. We love to create a sun-kissed look with deep corals, plums and earthy tones to really enhance the eyes and natural features!
Choosing a photo as inspiration for your MUA is so important to help them achieve the look you’re envisioning! Our team is trained to review no less than 3 inspiration photos with our clients, especially during a Bridal Trial consultation. This allows us to go step by step with you, discuss what you love from each photo, and even what you don’t like, so that we can collaborate on how to achieve your perfect look!
One of the biggest issues that we’ve seen is when our clients choose Inspo photos that show a look on someone with completely different coloring (eye color, skin tone or hair color), and even different eye shapes, face shapes, and overall bone structure. This can create unrealistic expectations and disappointment with the final result.
We recommend choosing a few photos of makeup you LOVE on clients/models with similar features and coloring to you, as these types of looks will compliment your features in the most beautiful way!
If you are a south asian bride or client with light to medium skin tone, medium to dark eyes, and cool to neutral undertones…this section is for you!
We absolutely LOVE working with our South Asian Brides! Not only are they absolutely stunning, but usually, their wedding celebrations involve multiple events, with intricate and elaborate outfits that call for several different glam looks over the course of two to three days. It’s such a dream when we get to work with our brides and create a different look for every ceremony! There is also so much color involved in South Asian weddings, which usually means our clients are super comfortable stepping out of the neutral makeup box and playing with different colors and more dramatic looks. Adding a pop of color, such as a green or purple shadow or a fun red lip is something that we find looks absolutely amazing on women with this skin tone & coloring.

If you have blonde hair with light eyes and light to medium skin with neutral undertones…this section is for you!
Blondes with lighter coloring and eyes tend to present one of the biggest challenges when it comes to creating a beautiful makeup look, which is exercising control and precision during an application. While clients with deeper skintones and darker features can handle more intense/darker colors and a more dramatic look, clients with lighter features can tend to look washed out or overly done up if the wrong colors or techniques are used.
This is where our “Soft Glam” signature look comes into play – Using a soft hand and more appropriate colors based on our client’s features allows the focus to be on YOU looking your most gorgeous, instead of on your makeup.
If you have monolids and hooded almond shaped eyes…this section is for you!
Part of our job as professional makeup artists is to assess every feature of our client’s face, and tailor our technique with a customized approach.
When working with this particular eye shape, it’s important to adjust the application of shadow and liner accordingly. Hooded eyes & monolids tend to have minimal to no upper eyelid show when the eyes are open, so certain eyeshadow looks can get lost on this shape. It can also be more prone to creasing and smudging without expertly applied liner, which can be a huge issue for our clients getting ready for a special event, where they need their glam to last flawlessly all day!
Our favorite techniques for this eye shape is using only one to two shadows on the lid, keeping it really simple, while helping open up the eye. A darker color can be used either at the base of the lash line, where liner will usually be applied for some extra drama, or at the outer corner, connecting to just above the lid to create the appearance of a more pronounced crease and to compliment the beautiful elongated almond shape!
If you have this eye shape and love winged liner, but aren’t sure how to make it work, here’s a tip – Try applying the wing when your eyes are open and focusing on creating more of a wing at the corners of the eye, connecting in the outer quarter. This will help create a much more even line that doesn’t get smudged the minute you open your eye!
If you have red, auburn or strawberry blonde hair with light colored eyes…this section is for you!
Are you familiar with color seasons? If so, you’ll notice that each of our beautiful clients featured in this post have slightly different color seasons and palettes, even though they all share varying shades of red, auburn and strawberry blonde hair!
As professional makeup artists, this is SO important when creating a makeup look for our clients! A one size fits all approach definitely doesn’t apply in this case, especially with redheads. Based on both the eye color & skin tone of the client, some features call for brighter and more vibrant tones on the eyes, cheeks and lips to help compliment their best features, while others will require more muted tones that don’t overpower the look or compete with their vibrant hair color!

If you have mature skin or the Mother of the Bride/Groom…this section is for you!
As we age, our skin changes in texture, elasticity, and moisture levels. Our professional makeup artists are skilled in working with mature skin to develop a look that will help hide fine lines and wrinkles and create a more elevated complexion.
We recommend each of our clients work with an aesthetician a few months before their appointment to help develop a skincare regimen that is perfect for their needs. Having a smooth surface always allows for a more even makeup application.
Our signature look is soft glam, which is perfect for mature skin! Just like we mentioned in our blonde inspo section, our artists use a soft hand to gently apply your makeup to ensure it looks natural and beautiful rather than “cakey” and too bold.
If you have medium to dark brown hair & blue or green eyes…this section is for you!
If you have bronde or brunette hair and light colored eyes then we recommend choosing makeup looks with earthy tones!
With this particular look, we love to keep all the focus on your beautiful green or blue eyes! In order to do so, we like to add touches of shimmer, incorporate a lot of warm tones and stick with a light pink or nude lip!
