Why Fall Weddings Are Pretty Much Perfect (Especially for Bridal Glam)

In our eyes, a fall wedding is never a bad idea. Warm colors, crisp air, and romantic venues dressed in autumnal details are always stunning.
And for brides, this season tends to make your glam look extra refined—but more on that in a second.
So if you’re a bride thinking of getting married in the fall, here are just a few fleshed-out reasons why this time produces some of our favorite weddings (and favorite hair and makeup looks) as professional HMUAs:
1. The Colors
Fall naturally lends itself to deeper, warmer beauty tones. If your wedding palette includes champagne, dusty rose, burgundy, terracotta, burnt orange, olive, forest green, espresso, gold, or copper, those will be a natural fit.
The same goes for makeup: if you love a little extra wow-factor, smoky eyes, fuller lashes, sculpted cheeks, and a dark lip thrive in the fall. Or, if you prefer something softer, think bronze eyes, champagne highlights, rosy cheeks, and mauve lips. Warm neutrals and subtle definition can beautifully complement the season while keeping your bridal look timeless.
But that doesn’t mean bright wedding colors or the pinky bridal glam everyone has been loving lately are off the table. The most important thing is choosing the tones and level of definition that make you feel your best, no matter the time of year.
Whatever look you choose, the biggest reason we love glamming in the fall is the weather (are we surprised?). Which brings us to our next point:
2. The Weather
Compared with summer’s heat and humidity, cooler fall temperatures can make it easier for your hair and makeup to stay comfortable and in place throughout the day—especially if you’re prone to sweating. And unlike winter, you’re less likely to deal with extreme cold that can leave your skin looking dry or red.
Of course, weather can still be unpredictable, so a good primer, setting spray, hairspray, and touch-up kit are always worth having (which we always do).
We especially love autumn for wearing hair down; while updos tend to hold up beautifully year-round, down styles can be more sensitive to heat and humidity. Yes, Hollywood waves and soft curls are stunning in any season—and we do them all the time—but warmer weather can cause them to loosen and fall faster. Fall’s cooler temperatures and lower humidity give these styles a better chance of staying intact, making it the perfect time to let all that hair down.
3. The Lighting
This is one we feel doesn’t get enough credit—the softer natural light that this season creates makes for such beautiful bridal portraits. Golden-hour photos against autumn foliage can also give your makeup an especially romantic appearance (which we always love). If you’re getting married in the fall, make sure to get those golden-hour shots and send them to your beauty team!
